Some exciting things happening for me in 2010. Toiling in Obscurity is being played by nearly 150 stations nationwide, 50 or so in heavy or medium rotation, and it has made several "Best of the Year" lists:
I'm honored to have been chosen as one of Tom Morgan's Top 11 New Orleans CD's for 2009. Tom is a DJ and music historian at world-renowned WWOZ, New Orlean's amazing independent radio station. You can check out his list at www.wwoz.org. AND go to www.tlmorgan.com to check out Tom's brand new book, Historic Photos of New Orleans Jazz. It is an absolutely beautiful book, by one of the leading authorities on New Orleans music.
Mr Grant Britt, music writer at Creative Loafing Magazine, in my old stomping ground Charlotte, NC, also puts it in his top 10 for the year. Read more at http://charlotte.creativeloafing.com/gyrobase/the_year_in_review_music/Content?oid=805537. Grant wrote a great review of the cd when it was released, which is in my press section.
And finally, I have it on good authority that Toiling in Obscurity will be in 2009's top 20 by David Eisenman, jazz director at WTJU radio, at The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA (I'll post a link asap). It has been in heavy rotation there almost from the beginning, and I must thank David for his ongoing support.
Much thanks to all these writers, and a Safe and Happy 2010 to all of you!!
